The Second Coming of Jesus (Mark 13:24-31)
Jesus is answering the two questions made by the disciples who asked; when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are all about to be fulfilled? (Mk. 13:4). It is still Tuesday of passion week and Jesus is on the mount of olives having what many call, the Olivet Discourse with His disciples. His public ministry has ended and has shifted to His disciples in preparing and training them up for the Great Commission to come. In answering their two questions, Jesus spoke of the great preparation in 13:5-13, the great instructions through the great tribulation in 13:14-23, and now He begins to speak of the sign all will see immediately after the great tribulations, which is the coming of the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven. Everything that Jesus spoke about led up to the great sign of His second coming upon or in the clouds of heaven with great power and great glory. Everything rests upon the second coming of Jesus, for it is when He will establish His kingdom on earth and reign supreme as the King of kings and Lord of lords and judge the world for their sin and rebellion against God.
