Mark describes Jesus traveling through Jericho on His way to Jerusalem and to the cross. He is stopped by a blind man who wishes to be healed. The first account of Jesus healing a blind man comes directly after Jesus accuses the disciples of spiritual blindness back in Mark 8:14–26. This is the last of Jesus' healing miracles in the book of Mark, directly follows James and John's spiritually blind request for positions of power in Jesus' kingdom.​ Jesus has given you spiritual sight, you now see him and truth in him alone. He is the only one that can save you from sin and death. How are you following him in light of his Calling? Are you following him along the way to Jerusalem, to the Cross or have you become content with sitting on the side of the road. Are you willing to throw aside you cloak, the old life and follow Jesus even though trials may come.​​
