How to Inherit Eternal Life Pt.2 (Mark 10:17-31)

We all have asked, and some continue to ask the question, what must I do to inherit eternal life? While a noble question to say the least, the question posed in the format it is posed in is a question asked in light of the gospel, in the incorrect way that leaves people in pursuit of eternal life never able to obtain such a life due to its bearings upon the good merits of the individual. Mankind has been created with a moral compass given by the Moral giver who is God. Part of this moral compass is the fact that we will face the Moral giver that will ultimately determine a judgment that will effect my life in the afterlife. While many, such as atheist and the like have attempted to remove such a compass through the removal of God and his existence, the truth still stands, if there is a moral compass we have been given, there must be a moral giver and no amount of money, good works in an attempt to outweigh the bad we have done, or any human ability can escape such pending encounter with God. Hebrews 9: 27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

Therefore, if there is nothing, we can do to inherit eternal life the right question we must pose is, how do I inherit eternal life? This answer has been given by Christians yet without clarity and a breakdown of how I inherit eternal life has left many without the assurance of eternal life and left with a default of humanistic attempts once again, to gain eternal life or pay for it by one’s own doing.

Mark, in his gospel of Jesus has been taking us on a path of Jesus’s actions speaking louder than words regarding Jesus’s kingdom, being a disciple of Jesus, and preparing the disciples for the Great Commission of making disciples for Jesus in teaching them and us how to remain married to Him, how to become childlike to enter His kingdom, and now Jesus begins to teach how to inherit eternal life.
