Many of the attacks upon Christianity revolve around the events of the cross and crucifixion of Jesus and lead into the resurrection. How and why would God the Son die and for that matter accept to die by means of crucifixion. I believe the reason why humanity cannot understand the cross, let alone accept and believe God the Son, if He was even God let alone his Son would die and/or can die− is due to the lack of understanding the total depravity of humanity and how sin had and has affected the relationship between God and man. It is for this reason the gospel revolves around and is founded upon the reality of the cross and the crucified Son of God who hung upon it and the finished work He accomplished through it!
