Lord of the Sabbath Pt.1 (Mark 2:23-28)

Jesus had spoken a message to John’s disciples regarding the new teachings of the kingdom of God lived out through the Son of Man and Son of God whom the Pharisees refused to believe and receive due to their hardened hearts that refused them access to the gospel due to the pride they continued to exhibit against the Lord and His gospel, because they refused to do an introspection of their own lives and admit their erroneous ways and heart. They refused the new wine being poured out because they were stuck in old wine skins that only caused them to explode, rather than be changed and transformed. The Pharisees who were on constant guard and watch of Jesus and His teachings were always by hoping to catch Jesus up and accuse Him of being a law breaker and evil doer. Now on the Sabbath day, the Pharisees see the disciples and Jesus’ walking along a grainfield and picking some heads of grains to eat. For the Pharisees, this was a breaking of the law, but not the technical law of God regarding the sabbath, but the laws and traditions they created and gave more authority to than God himself. They added to the law of God their own interpretations and applications that they considered coming from and approved by God and missed the essence of the word of God regarding the sabbath day. Mark gives us three areas we must be aware of to remain in and how to apply the sabbath to our own lives.
