In Mark 2:13-17 Jesus’s disciples are being questioned about Jesus’s behavior in eating and drinking with sinners and tax collectors in which violated their traditions and religious behavior that exposed their self-righteous hearts. Now it is people questioning Jesus about His disciples and that by John’s the Baptists disciples (Matthew 9:14). A teacher was responsible for the behavior of their disciples and therefore, Jesus was questioned and required to give an answer in which he does and gives them insight into the putting off the old traditions of fasting or religious acts/traditions and introducing them to the new transformation of living in Christ, by Christ, and through Christ. ​ ​
