Jesus was not just some sacrifice; He was the perfect sacrifice, and He made perfect through that which He suffered. He did not suffer on behalf of Himself, but rather suffered on behalf of humanity. His suffering would make Him the perfect sacrifice and perfectly equipped for His office as High Priest (one who intercedes and became the sin offering for mankind) not just because He is God, but because He became man and experienced everything a man would undergo and therefore able to relate to humanity from a human perspective. Not just the ability to feel love, have relationships and all the good parts of being a human being, but even more He experienced our sufferings, our pain, our temptations, betrayal, and the ugly parts of being a human being in taking our sin upon Himself. Yet, when it comes to the crucifixion of the Lord, we are prone to only consider His perfection through the crucifixion while neglecting to experience and consider the Lord in the perfection of His sufferings that led to His crucifixion and that for you and me.
