Shekinah Glory Pt.1 (Mark 9:2-13)
Could you imagine, placing yourself in the shoes of the disciples who at this point left everything to follow Jesus with an expectation to have Jesus meet all their wants, concerns, and dreams, only to be told that those things are not a concern of Jesus in light of the bigger picture. We would be as many have including the disciples; discouraged, filled with sorrow, and ever ready to quit. Yet, Jesus in 9:1 gives a promise that some there would not taste death before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power. It would be this literal observation of power that the disciples would need to carry on the Great Commission and eventually die for the gospel of Jesus. We now come to the setting of our lesson today. Six or eight days (Luke 9) later depending on what days you count, Jesus takes Peter James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were alone. There he was transfigured before them. To appreciate and learn what Jesus did on this mountain we must understand the significance of His actions that led to His transfiguration and why. We learn four amazing things from the experience the disciples encountered with Jesus and from Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.
