The Concern's of God (Mark 8:31-33)
Peter confesses in answer to Jesus’s question in verse 29, “Who do you say that I am,” and declares that Jesus is the Messiah and Son of the living God. Jesus then warns them not to tell anyone about him in verse 30. He gives this warning in light of the disciples needing to be further taught about who the Messiah truly is in contrast to the influence and wrong perspective given by man regarding who the Messiah was to be. While Peter and the disciples had the correct answer of who Jesus was and is (the Messiah), they lacked the purpose of the Messiah. It was for this reason that Jesus began to teach them plainly about the purpose and mission of the Messiah that coincided with the concerns of God and contrasted the merely human concerns of man.
