The God of the Vineyard Pt.1 (Mark 12:1-12)

Jesus begins to speak in parables again, which are short stories that are familiar to the people. These stories have spiritual truths hidden within them reserved for those who are listening and willing to dig deeper for its meaning. After being confronted by the chief priest, teachers of the law, and elders regarding the what and who of Jesus’s authority, Mark shares this parable given by Jesus against the religious leaders. This parable is a parable of judgment. It is a parable with the intent to bring about repentance unto God or face the judgment of God. It is still Tuesday of Passion week and Jesus begins to speak to the religious leaders and all who were present in parables to confront their hypocrisy and to warn people against them. Mark, with precision chooses to add this parable out of other parables Jesus gave within the gospels during Passion week with reason to lessons and with warnings. This parable of the God of the vineyard displays and exhibits salvation history and the plan of God unto salvation for many and the plan of God unto judgment for many. It leaves us with only two choices in the end, we will either choose to be saved by God through our submission/obedience to the Son of God or to be judged by God through our rebellion and disobedience to the Son of God. The choice is ours, but oh thank God that He encourages us to choose rightly and correctly with reasons that is in conformity to His nature and attributes. I want to teach us three points to the God of the vineyard in hopes for us to always choose to submit and obey God unto salvation over rebellion and disobedience to God unto eternal judgment.
