The Power of Unbelief Pt.2 (Mark 6:1-6)
Mark gave us an amazing example of the power of God that was released by the faith of two people opposite of each other in the world yet similar in their desperation and need of the power of God within their lives. It was an active faith that released the power of God within their lives that brought about amazement and astonishment. This same amazement was a response from all who encountered the Lord both His gospel and teaching as well as His miracles performed among them. But for the Lord, there were only two times where we read, He was amazed: 1. Amazed at the Centurion’s faith in Luke 7:9 and 2. Amazed at the unbelief of the people in His hometown and amongst his relatives. We see the power that is released from the Lord when one has faith, but we also see the power of unbelief and the effects it has upon the lives of those who chose to allow unbelief to deal with them rather than them dealing with their unbelief. Mark takes us through the beginning of chapter 6:1-6 to describe the power of unbelief and its effects upon those who allow unbelief to take root within them. The power of unbelief is unbelievable even in the face of God Himself that it brings amazement to the Creator of heaven and earth, the One who created amazement itself is amazed at our unbelief and that not with a smile but a broken heart
