If the burial of Jesus allowed us to encounter our own wake or awakening, then the resurrection of Jesus is the hope for living and that beyond the scope of the physical life and world, but one that resurrects us of the hope that goes beyond the grave and into eternal life in the presence of Almighty God! The burial of Christ brought about much heartfelt tears and pain to the two who prepared the Lord’s burial, Joseph of Arimathea, and Nicodemus who themselves encountered a wake at the burial of Jesus. But what a joy would have come Sunday morning in hearing the most significant words in all of human and salvation history, He is risen!
