True Resolution (New Years Eve Service)
New Year’s is a time where many people create and start resolutions that are associated with a new year and a new start or beginning of life. We all have made new year resolutions with good intentions and excitement through goal settings both near and far. We launch into these resolutions with an anticipation and expectation to see results that would seem to make life better, maturer, with less debt, less body fat, less stress, and even less bondage to our thoughts and emotions especially from the prior year. Yet, as many of us have experienced through these resolutions the moment we are triggered with letdown or a result and even push back that we had not expected or accounted for we simply give up and default back to our original suppositions and mindsets that have driven our lives to the state it has been in up to this point. We then deceptively say things to ease our consciousness and emotional discomfort like, I will start back up in the Summer or will try again next year. Why do we fail miserably in our attempts to do better, live better, and just be better? I believe one of the main reasons for this inability to meet these goals and resolutions we set up is due to the lack of true resolutions. These failings are not just subjugated to worldly living and failed goals they are also evident in our relationship with the Lord.
