Watch Out For The Yeast Pt.1 (Mark 8:14-21)

Deception is still on the rise even more than it was in the times that Paul wrote the his letters to the Corinthians who cared to keep a certain company of people who would eventually corrupt them to sin and deceive them regarding the truth about Jesus and His teachings and actions. For whatever reason they kept company with these certain people, deceived in not realizing how much these same people were corrupting them and influencing them away from Christ one day, one moment, one session, one barbeque, one conversation, and one act at a time. They were unaware of the conforming teachings and actions the company of people they allowed within their lives. We all have been in situations or circumstances of bad company we kept around because we enjoyed their company, friendships, and things we did with them without realizing the corruptions that was spreading within our perspectives, mindsets, emotions, and actions. The corruption formulated themselves by the way we looked at life, our spouses, our obedience to Christ, our faithfulness, our barriers and cautioned parameters set up to safeguard us which would eventually be pushed further and further away until we actually fell into the same corruption, we thought we can avoid by the same company we kept around who exhibited toxic behavior, mindsets, and teachings. We allowed a little yeast around and eventually that yeast did what yeast does, spreads until it takes over one’s whole life. In our generation yeast presents itself in many forms from the visuals, audibles, and actions we consume and keep around us on a day-to-day basis. From things and people, we watch, people we listen to, and following the lives of those who are corrupt and wicked who are aligned with the world rather than of Christ. This is what Jesus warns us of in the next section of Mark that is crucial to understand and be aware of if we are ever to continue as disciples of Jesus Christ who are being shaped as quality unified authentic disciples whose actions speak louder than words as Jesus exemplifies through His life as recorded in the gospel of Mark. The warning is clear then and is still clear today; Watch out for the yeast!!!
