Jesus leaves Galilee and withdraws into the vicinity of Tyre and Sidon according to Matthew 15. Whether He was withdrawing from the Pharisees and Scribes after coming against their whole religious ways and traditions or trying to escape from the crowds to get some much needs r and r; Jesus purposely entered a Gentile region. We must understand that Jesus never does anything by accident or without purpose and design. He does not want anyone to know he entered a house, but of course could not keep his whereabouts a secret in that his popularity has reached beyond Galilee and has even reached these Gentile territories as described in Mark 3:8 where even people from Tyre and Sidon had come out to see and hear Jesus. Tyre and Sidon were wealthy cities, and the people were a prideful people who were evil and a materialistic culture very much like our own. Yet, there was a Syrophoenician woman who herd where Jesus was and sought Jesus out with the intent to get her daughter delivered from demon possession. Jesus uses this opportunity to teach His disciples and us a lesson on coming correct in receiving Him as Lord and Messiah that describes the beauty of His salvation to all of mankind. There are three points I want to make in coming correct to the Lord that we learn from this Syrophoenician woman.
